MEDICINE HAT
Mobile Application Interface, Figma
Inspired by my usage of the Medicine Hat Transit system, I have always found it to be incredibly difficult to navigate if I did not have app shortcuts and automations to assist me.
As part of an educational UI/UX project from my college studies, I created this app to solve that issue for not just myself but also for my local community. I did not actually create an app, I just created a working concept that with the right code and investment, it could become a real app!
The design is very utilitarian and minimal, serving the sole purpose of simplying transit usage. Making transit not a nessesity but also a convenience just as much as cars are.
The branding is on brand with the City of Medicine Hat - our municipal governmental corporation, with the usage of colors, Avenir Next typography and service specific logos.

Port-folio (2025 - Present)
4”x5.5”, Designed with
Affinity Publisher.
This is my personal portfolio. It is inspired by USB sticks and their portability. Like how USB portable sticks can be attached to keychains, for example. The portfolio is bound by a singular metal binder hoop. Each page can be flipped in a dynamic “open” concept manner, where the book is not leading you through but rather being present with the user’s experience. As time passes, the design allows for easy expansion of the binding with new pages of artwork to be showcased.

Thinking about typography in imagery was the main focus of this project. Merging the words of a book with the imagery in playful & creative ways - to give to meaning to the descriptions and the images. The idea behind this book particulary was to bring the 3D world of Medicine Hat to life in simple shapes, noticing how the shapes connect Medicine Hat together and give it life.
Modified Japanese Stab Binding (2023)
7”x5”, Book. Designed with InDesign
The name of the book is the inspiration for this book. Structural expressionism in architecture is the fundamental structural elements of building being employed as the expressive or “decorative” aspect of the building. This book experiments with this approach to architecture in this smaller scale, where the japanese stab binding is a clear and defining structural element of the book. The remainder of the book features minor printed elements refering to the design process, like margin lines. Structural expressionism can be an expression of process and engineering - the aesthetic of engineering and infrastrcture.
An example of structural expressive architecture. Also refered to as “bowelsim” due to the nature of the tubular water & air circulation infrastructure.

Adobe Indesign, digital.Simply put, “Swiss Design” of a magazine spread. Highly modern and geometric with a minimal color palette for contrast and emphasis.
The fictional Cascadie magazine set in the french-speaking city of Cascadie, a beautifully designed & sophisticated city for parks, urbanism and and architecture. The magazine explores new and ongoing discussions about sustainability, aesthetics, architecture, culture and urbanism. These themes are represented in the Cover design as a sense of “refresh” and forward flowing momentum with the use of words shaped by the natural parkland scenery. Without the ideals of the City of Cascadie, there would be no innovation. This magazine is a testament to the very essence of the city.

Omolife™ is set in a dystopian world wherein Omolife is the “world’s panopticon of life”. The austere and contrasting design of the logo and brand communicate a sense of controlled ease. By nature, Omolife™ wants to preserve & simplify life, however there is a high cost to these ideals, so if there happens to be non-compliance... ones risks being terminated of life.

An early attempt at my design skills . The idea is to wish a Merry Christmas and bring attention to the art deco design of the Monarch Theatre in Medicine Hat, Alberta. A timeless structure of the 19th centtury and the first of its kind in Western Canada.
3 Dimensional Graphic Design, approx. 7”x7”x3”. Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Photohop
For educational project about packaging design, it was important to understand what a 2D design on a screen or paper could become in 3D interactive form. This further expands design into the ineractive world.
The flexagon is a complex type of origami, featuring a constantly “foldable” shape, revealing 4 whole arrangements for each “fold”.
The significance of 4 Heritage as a flexagon is that it reveals 4 pieces of my biological and inherited heritage: Russian, Mediterranean, Southern Albertan and Montrealais. Each heritage has an arrangement of symbols and representations of local flora & geography. Each arrangement being distinct yet universally bound by nature and the ever-evolving flexagon.

I created a vernacular typeface based on the roadways, grids and neighborhood blocks of Medicine Hat, Alberta - all through satellite imagery. I closely observed and traced patterns of letters to created this example of a vernacular typeface.
